The School Violence Intervention Team (SVIT) of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth is a member of the Safe School Team and an important partner of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Management of Violence in Schools.
According to its terms of service, it provides direct cooperation and support to school units on issues related to the management and dealing of phenomena of intra school violence and extreme delinquency.
The Team is staffed by Primary and Secondary education teachers, who have special qualifications and/or have received specialised training on issues of violence and delinquency.
The Team operates on a decentralised basis. The work of SVIT is supervised by the Chief Education Officers of the District Offices for Primary and Secondary Education. A Primary Education Chief Officer leads the overall coordination of the Team.
