Initiatives of the Council of Europe overseen by MESY
The European and International Affairs, Lifelong Learning and Adult Education Office coordinates the participation of the MESY in the Steering Committee for Education (CDPPE), which oversees the Council of Europe’s programmes in the field of education and advises the Committee of Ministers on education issues.
The MoECSY follows the work of the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML). ECML was established in Graz, Austria in 1994. Its mission is to encourage excellence and innovation in language teaching and to support its member states in the implementation of effective language education policies, bearing in mind the complementarity between Strasbourg and Graz.
The European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages is the European convention for the protection and promotion of languages used by traditional minorities. The MoECSY is responsible to prepare the report of the implementation of Charter in Cyprus.
