According to the Educational Districts Law of 1991 [Article 3(1)], “the Council of Ministers may, by a decision published in the Official Gazette of the Republic, determine one or more educational districts in any city, area, municipality, or province.”
The educational districts presented on this website include all public Secondary General Education schools (Gymnasia and Lyceums), as they will apply for the 2026–2027 school year. Four links are provided: two for Gymnasium educational districts and two for Lyceums (in Greek and Latin characters). Please note that the listing of postal addresses follows the standardization of the Cyprus Post.
Educational districts are determined based on students’ place of residence. To easily locate the assigned school, interested parties are advised to first identify their postal code and then their postal street.
According to the relevant Law, students are required to enroll in the school of their designated educational district. Transfer to a school in another district is permitted only when the conditions specified in the “Regulations on the Operation of Public Secondary Education Schools” (Part IV, Paragraph 13) are met. Completion of a transfer requires approval by the respective District Education Office, following the prior enrollment of the applicant in the school of the district to which they belong.
It is emphasized that student transportation to and from school units via school bus routes is carried out on the basis of the designated educational districts. In cases of approved transfers, the creation of new school bus routes is not provided for, and responsibility for students’ transportation rests with parents/guardians.
Educational districts are reviewed when new school units are established, when the operation of existing schools is suspended, or when deemed necessary for other reasons. Any revision is always carried out with a view to ensuring the smooth operation of all school units and the equitable distribution of the student population.
